About

Born in Glasgow to Polish parents, Magdalena Reising has been singing and making music since early childhood. Her main instruments are voice, harp and piano. Her deep, rich, soulful voice has graced numerous recordings as a session artist.

She's shared the limelight on various collaborative projects, most notably the album 'Invisible Threads', also for Latest Records. With 'Blue Cafe', Magdalena takes centre stage. 'Blue Cafe' is her first solo album of original jazz. It's written by her, or in collaboration with pianist, Chris Page, and guitarist, Michael Simons, who also play on the recording.

About(cont)

Comparisons have been made with contemporary artists such as Madeline Peyroux, Cassandra Wilson and Nora Jones. Certainly 'Blue Cafe' evokes the spirit of Billie Holliday, Ella Fitzgerald and Marlene Dietrich but it's not a pastiche or a tribute. It is a unique and charming contribution of original blues-tinted jazz by a European chanteuse of unusual listenability. 'Blue Cafe' is a delightful album!

'Blue Cafe' by Magdalena Reising is released by Latest Records in May 2007 "Word of her prowess as singer and instrumentalist is obviously spreading fast.

Reviews

"Word of her prowess as singer and instrumentalist is obviously spreading fast. Her music raises the spirits and I walked out into the cold night enveloped in a warm glow. Her singing is delicate and feminine but with an underlying strength and depth. Her jazz/blues songs are at the same time original and traditional. She is quite simply a star."
